True Love #Monday Musical Memories

The song I’m singing today was included on a cassette of love songs my late husband Bill sent me after he proposed. At the time, he was living in Fowler, Colorado, and I here in Sheridan, Wyoming. So, he recorded his favorite love songs he’d downloaded from the internet onto a cassette and mailed it to me. It arrived on Valentine’s Day, along with other goodies he included in the care package. You can read more about this in My Ideal Partner.

As the song suggests, I want to believe  Bill and I had a guardian angel who put us together. Otherwise, if he hadn’t proposed to me or if I’d said no, his life after his strokes would have been different, to say the least. No doubt he would have spent the rest of his life in a nursing home and wouldn’t have had the quality or quantity of life he had with me. I’m not trying to be vain. I’m just saying when someone you love and who loves you takes care of you when you can’t do anything for yourself, it makes a world of difference. Although Bill is gone, I’ll still give him true love forever.

By the way, for those using the National Library Services for the Blind and Print Disabled, my latest book, The Red Dress, is now available on their site. Click here to download the book.

Song Lyric Sunday: True Love

This feature was created by Helen Vahdati. This week’s theme is “give/giving.” This song is about two people giving one another true love. It was included on a cassette tape of love songs my late husband Bill sent me on Valentine’s Day after proposing to me. You can learn more about this by reading My Ideal Partner: How I Met, Married, and Cared for the Man I Loved Despite Debilitating Odds. I believe that Bill and I have a guardian angel who put us together so we could give each other true love and he’d have someone to care for him after he suffered two strokes.

True Love by Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby

Lyrics Courtesy of Google

I give to you and you give to me

True love, true love

So on and on it will always be

True love, true love

For you and I have a guardian angel

On high, with nothing to do

But to give to you and to give to me

Love forever true

For you and I have a guardian angel

On high, with nothing to do

But to give to you and to give to me

Love forever true

Love forever true
