Welcome to another Open Book Blog Hop. Here’s this week’s question. “Have you ever had a weird experience that led to an improvement in your work? (like something came up at an event or on tv that was oddly timely.)
In 2003, while I was working on my first book, I received an email that later led to that improvement in my work. At the time, I was living here in Sheridan, Wyoming, and working as a registered music therapist in nursing homes and other senior facilities. The message I received was from Bill Taylor in Fowler, Colorado, who was replying to a magazine inquiry with an answer to my question about computers. I wrote him back, and we began corresponding. The rest is history.
If you want to know more, read My Ideal Partner: How I Met, Married, and Cared for the Man I Loved Despite Debilitating Odds. But I’ll tell you this much. If not for Bill, I wouldn’t have had the courage to quit my day job and write full-time. Though I’m not a bestselling author, I’m flying high, thanks to him, the wind beneath my wings.
How about you authors out there? Did something happen to improve your career? You can click here to participate in this week’s hop and read other responses. Thank you for stopping by.

Yes, I think our guardian angels brought us together, knowing Bill would suffer two debilitating strokes and need someone to care for him. But at times, I wondered why Bill’s angel didn’t find him a certified nursing assistant with better eyesight for a wife. The good news is that he lived for seven years after his first stroke until he gave up on life.
